MyGov UG is operated by the Government of Uganda through the Ministry of ICT & National Guidance and NITA-U. Your privacy is protected under the Uganda Data Protection and Privacy Act, 2019.
Information We Collect
We collect information you provide directly when registering or using MyGov UG services, including your National Identification Number (NIN), name, date of birth, phone number, email address, biometric data (face photo), and location data where relevant. We also collect usage data such as pages visited, services applied for, queue tickets, and device information to improve the platform.
How We Use Your Information
Your information is used to: • Verify your identity with the National Identification and Registration Authority (NIRA) • Process government service applications on your behalf • Send notifications about your applications and queue status • Enable document storage and sharing • Improve service delivery and detect fraud We do not sell your personal data to third parties.
Data Sharing
Your data is shared only with: • Government ministries and agencies when you apply for their services (with your consent) • NIRA for identity verification • SkipQue for appointment scheduling (name, phone, and government ID number only) • Law enforcement when required by Ugandan law All data sharing is governed by the Data Protection and Privacy Act, 2019.
Data Security
We use industry-standard encryption (TLS/HTTPS) for all data in transit. Sensitive data such as NIN and biometrics are encrypted at rest. Access to your data is restricted to authorised government personnel only. You can revoke access, download your data, or request deletion by contacting support.
Your Rights
Under the Uganda Data Protection and Privacy Act, 2019, you have the right to: • Access your personal data • Correct inaccurate data • Request deletion of your data • Object to processing • Data portability To exercise these rights, contact the National Information Technology Authority – Uganda (NITA-U) or submit a request through our support channel.
Cookies
MyGov UG uses session cookies to keep you logged in securely. We do not use tracking cookies or advertising cookies. Your session expires after 7 days of inactivity.
